Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Ukraine

FES Ukraine is part of the international network of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES). The FES has been working continuously in Ukraine since 1993. Over the years, FES Ukraine has developed a wide network of partners in civil society, academia, trade unions and government institutions on local, regional and national levels. Our goals have been consistent from the start: To support the development of democratic institutions and a social market economy, to advocate for the core values of social democracy – freedom, justice and solidarity – and to involve Ukrainian stakeholders in international dialogue formats that further international peace and cooperation.

Ukraine’s candidate status for the European Union provides a clear framework for the future development of state and society. FES strongly believes in the European future of Ukraine as a prosperous, stable and socially just democracy, and will continue working towards that goal with its Ukrainian and international partners.

Social Democracy

Social Democracy in Ukraine’s public discourse is still far too often confused with socialism and thus associated with the Soviet past.

Sustainable Economy

A sustainable economic policy strives to achieve ecological, economic and social goals simultaneously, instead off prioritizing one field over the other two.

The photo shows St. Michael's Square in Kyiv. On the right is the bell tower of the St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery. On the left is the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. In the center of the square you can see an exhibition of destroyed Russian military equipment.
